The winners of the 2011 LIANZA Children’s Book Awards were announced last night in Wellington. The LIANZA awards are given by librarians for outstanding children’s literature in the categories of junior fiction, young adult fiction, illustration, non-fiction and te reo Maori. Here are the winners in each category:
Esther Glen Award (Junior Fiction) – Shadow of the Boyd by Diana Menefy- Russell Clark Award (Illustration) – Hill and Hole by Kyle Mewburn and Vasanti Unka
- Elsie Locke Award (Nonfiction) – The Kiwi Fossil Hunter’s Handbook by James Campton and Marianna Terezow
- LIANZA Young Adult Fiction Award – Fierce September by Fleur Beale
