Reading Crusade Challenge – Week 6

Week 6 Challenge – Graphic Novels

Try a graphic novel, comic book or manga this week.  There are lots of different ones to choose from, whether you like Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Avatar: The Last Airbender, X-men or Spiderman.

Tell us about your favourite graphic novel and you’ll go into the draw to win Volume 1 of The Adventures of Tintin and a book about the author and characters behind the graphic novels.

  • To enter this competition you must be between 8 and 13 years old and live in Canterbury. We may ask for proof of your address and your age.
  • If you are a winner, you consent to your name, photograph, entry and/or interview being used for reasonable publicity purposes by Christchurch City Libraries.
  • Staff of Christchurch City Libraries and their immediate families are not able to enter.
  • The competition ends on Friday 20 May at 5pm.
  • We will announce the winners on the Christchurch Kids Blog on Monday 23 May 2011.
  • We will notify the winners by telephone and/or email.
  • The Christchurch Kids Blog judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Prizes are as stated and are not transferable.

    My favourite graphic novels are the Hardy Boys graphic novels. I love the humor, and also enjoy trying to solve the mystery before the end of the book.

    My favourite graphic novels are the Asterix comics
    I like the way they are a totally ridiculous comic about real life.I also like the personalty of the characters and haw they relate to my friends and my enemies . My favourite characters are Asterix, Obelix ,Getafix, Vitalstatistix and Queen Cleopatra I also like dogmatix and the rest.

    My favourite graphic novels are the Lucky Luke series. I think its awesome how you can just read through them once for fun and then go through them again looking for all the little jokes that you miss the first time ( I also think its epic how Lucky Luke is such an expert with a 25 shot six shooter) Jolly Jumper is funny because whenever they tie up Lucky Luke, Jolly Jumper always gets him free somehow. 🙂
